Kohl’s Creative Marketing Internship

Key Responsibilities 

During my time at Kohl’s I had the opportunity to work within a Creative Marketing Design Team; I learned and applied their internal programs and utilized their brand practices when creating marketing pieces. I had the opportunity to work cross-functionally with other teams within marketing and Kohl’s as a corporation. While working on projects, I was able to attend and present my work to content managers and gain feedback on my designs. My experience with Kohl’s has provided me with knowledge in the corporate retail environment conceptualizing print, digital, in store marketing pieces, and plenty more.

Rewards Mailer

Every month Kohl’s sends out rewards mailers to their customers, I had the opportunity to design the mailer for October 2020. During this project I worked under an Art Director on my team where we worked together to sketch, conceptualize, and create a new design for the rewards mailers to adhere to the newest Kohl’s Rewards branding. This project is also an important piece in my experience because I was able to learn the complex process behind getting a piece such as this printed and produced.

Clearance Redesign

One of my fellow interns on the Kohl’s Marketing Strategy team discovered that one thing Kohl’s could improve upon was streamlining their clearance departments; I was then able to conceptualize rebranding for the Kohl’s clearance area. The final branding was not only a fresh approach that fit well within Kohl’s but also provided directional in store graphics.

Team Project

One of the most rewarding experiences I had while with Kohl’s was participating in their Shark Tank. Working as a team we were able to address and issue that Kohl’s was having and work collaboratively to find the best solution. After research, I was then able to design the deliverables to go along with our proposal. This project was a great learning experience because I was able to work cross-functionally and collaborate with interns from Category Women’s Marketing, Marketing Strategy Loyalty, Marketing Analytics, and Marketing Planning/Activation. After the completion of the project, we then presented to the Directors of Marketing at Kohl’s and their teams.

Gift Cards

Something that Kohl’s was looking to expand upon was their gift card designs. The specific needs were for general gifting, house warming, fathers day, and Kohl’s branded cards.
